THE LIFE of CHUBBY JOHNSON - TROUBLE in JOHNSON’S BLUFF

$2

Sheriff Charlie ‘Chubby’ Johnson inherited more than just his father’s badge—he inherited the quiet town of Johnson’s Bluff, a place so peaceful it hadn’t seen a proper fistfight in over five years. The war passed them by, mostly, and Chubby’s three-year term as sheriff has been more about calming spooked horses than chasing down criminals.

Chubby’s a big man—rotund, some folks say with a wink—and he still lives in the old house with his widowed mother, who insists on keeping him well-fed with fried salt pork, cornbread, and sweet potato pie. The man’s appetite is legendary, and so is his slow, deliberate way of doing things. He’s not the kind of sheriff who goes looking for trouble, mostly because walking across town tires him out. But up until now, trouble never came looking for him either.
